Typhoon Ondoy's Update

Just a short update of typhoon Ondoy, a state of national calamity has been declared over 27 provinces in 7 regions, as well as in the NCR. Among the provinces included are Mountain Province, Ifugao, and Benguet (CAR); Pangasinan, La Union, and Ilocos Sur (Region I); Isabela, Quirino, and Nueva Vizcaya (Region II); Aurora, Nueva Ecija, Zambales, Pampanga, Bulacan, Tarlac, and Bataan (Region III); Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, and Quezon (Region IV-A); Mindoro Occidental, Mindoro Oriental, and Marinduque (Region IV-B); and Catanduanes, Camarines Norte, and Camarines Sur (Region V).

The rain fell on metro Manila in just six hours is about 34.1 centimeters. And the previous record was 33.4 cm and it was during 24 hour period in June 1967, according to Nathaniel Cruz.

Few days ago I earned some profits from my small business. Christmas is fast approaching so I am thinking of buying something new for myself as my Christmas gift. Another Ferry Tragedy

This morning I got an email from my husband informing me for another ferry tragedy in the Philippines. The ferry's name is Superferry9 and was carrying nearly 1,000 passengers and sank in southern Philippines early Sunday. It's so sad to hear about this news. The ferry left southern port city of General Santos on Saturday and was scheduled to arrive in Iloilo city in the central Philippines later Sunday but ran into problems midway.

"Rescuers transferred 900 of 968 passengers and crewmen to two nearby commercial ships, a navy gunboat and a fishing boat, he said. A search was under way for 33 people who remained missing," Tamayo said.

Upon knowing this tragedy my nerves were trembling because we just surpassed the ferry incident few weeks ago. One of the Cokaliong ferry where I rode with my son tilted for a while but we were lucky because it didn't push through like what happened to the Superferry 9. I think all we need to do is always pray and pray to make things right.
